About Us

Our names are Tom & Emilio and we own Sweet Creamery.

Tom & Emilio

In late 2007, we moved northward to Canada from the United States to settle into our new home. Not knowing anything about Toronto we were fortunate enough to stay at the Toronto Townhouse B&B in Cabbagetown while visiting. We immediately fell in love with the area and chose to settle here to build our new life in a new country.

Shortly after settling in, Emilio entered George Brown Culinary School to enhance his love for food and make a career change. The idea of Sweet Creamery was born in Cabbagetown by asking our neighbours and friends what kind of shop they'd like to see open. Ice Cream was one of the top answers we received. At that time, we also took a trip to Italy and learned more about gelato - Emilio couldn't pass a shop without tasting some. So he took a training class here in the GTA with some Italian gelato masters.

In addition to making making fresh gelato, pastries, paninis, soups, waffles and hot chocolate, Sweet Creamery also offers Kawartha Dairy Ice Cream. We strive to buy Canadian as much as possible.

Emilio with Cake

  1. Our ice cream is purchased from the family run Kawartha Dairy Company of Bobcaygeon;
  2.  Our waffle cones are made also by a Canadian family business called Donsig Cones located in Waterloo, Ontario;
  3. Our gelato base is purchased through a British Columbia distributor; and,
  4. We also try to use our local Cabbagetown vendors for daily needs.

It’s important for us to buy Canadian because we are so grateful to Canada for having taken us in after many years of immigration struggles in the United States.

To all of our neighbours and customers, thank you for the warm welcome to the neighbourhood!!
